We have found an intriguing new feature that may come in handy to many folks that have a website. The Web Directory offers this one-of-a-kind tool that allows you to find the domain names that resolve to an IP address. Just enter an IP address into the search box at the directory and a list of the domain names belonging to that IP address will be shown. To obtain your IP address, use the DNS lookup tool in the right column of this website. Enter your domain name including http://. When the results are displayed, click the link that says "More sites from this IP". This will perform a search at the directory that will generate the list of domain names belonging to that IP address. We spoke to the folks at the directory about this tool. They are compiling the data for this feature at the rate of a few hundred thousand domains per day. This tool can help to provide implications of how crowded your webhost's server is and allows you to view other sites on your shared IP address. This may help to pinpoint problems with search engine indexing when your site has no apparent problems. If the shared IP that your site is on is from a "bad neighborhood" with poor quality sites on the same IP address, your site may be getting penalized unfairly.
